The EcoArt Network drafted an excellent definition for ecological art as "an art practice that embraces an ethic of social justice in both its content and form/materials. EcoArt is created to inspire caring and respect, stimulate dialogue, and encourage the long-term flourishing of the social and natural environments in which we live."
Globally, artists have been involved with the climate change crisis for many years in hopes of broadening awareness of human beings who are causing the crisis in hopes that can make a difference. When the art room at the college where I was teaching was destroyed by a Category Five Typhoon, my students brought in scattered items from around the island to create EcoArt, as illustrated here.
